Takatori Castle, Hill castle in Takatori, Japan.

The ruins of Takatori Castle stand at 583 meters above sea level, featuring stone walls and remains of 29 fortified watchtowers.

The Ochi clan constructed this fortress in 1332, which became one of the three largest mountain defensive structures in medieval Japan.

The castle demonstrates Japanese military construction techniques with its white plastered walls and strategically positioned ramparts.

Accessing the ruins requires a 60-minute walk from the nearest railway station to reach the summit of Mount Takatori.

During the Edo period, the Uemura lords lived in the lower town while their retainers occupied higher positions on the mountain.
