Tsukigase, Former village in Soekami district, Nara, Japan
Tsukigase was a small settlement in the Soekami district of Nara Prefecture, situated in a mountainous area. The community occupied a rural landscape characterized by farmland, forests, and traditional village structures typical of inland Nara.
The settlement was established during the Meiji-era administrative reforms and maintained independent status for over a century. It merged with neighboring communities in 2005 to become part of the expanded city of Nara.
The region maintained traditional agricultural practices and local governance structures that reflected the rural character of Nara Prefecture before urbanization.
As a dissolved municipality, the area exists today mainly through its location and historical records. Visitors can explore the landscape where this community once stood and experience the rural character of the Soekami region.
The population reached 1,913 residents before dissolution, marking the end of independent municipal status for this mountainous settlement in Nara Prefecture.
