Kuwana Castle, Japanese castle in Kuwana, Japan

The castle rises along the Ibi River with stone walls, moats, and fortifications designed to control coastal trade routes at the mouth of three rivers.

Construction began in 1601 under Tokugawa rule, with Honda Tadakatsu receiving the castle as a 100,000-koku domain following the Battle of Sekigara.

The castle grounds include gardens and host traditional Japanese ceremonies, serving as a center for local heritage preservation and historical education.

The castle site, accessible through Kuwana Station, features remaining stone walls, moats, and a reconstructed two-story turret housing an observation deck.

A great fire in 1701 destroyed the main tower and numerous turrets, leading to the castle's transformation into the present-day Kyuka Park.
