Tiara Koto, Concert hall and theatre in Sumiyoshi, Japan
Tiara Koto is a concert hall and theatre in Sumiyoshi located within Sarue-onshi Park, designed with modern architecture that prioritizes acoustics for performances. The building contains multiple halls with different seating arrangements and is equipped with advanced sound technology and specialized lighting systems for professional productions.
The building was designed by architect Kume Sekkei and opened in December 1994 as a new centre for the performing arts in the region. Its establishment marked a turning point for the cultural landscape of Sumiyoshi, creating new opportunities for hosting performances in this area.
The venue hosts classical music concerts, traditional Japanese performances, and contemporary theatre productions throughout the year. These different art forms coexist within the same building, reflecting the audience's connection to both Western and Japanese performance traditions.
The venue offers dedicated rehearsal spaces and preparation areas that allow both performers and visitors to experience smooth operations. The different halls are clearly marked and easy to navigate, helping guests find their way quickly to their chosen performances.
The building connects its interior performance spaces with the surrounding park through large glass panels, allowing visitors to see the green landscape while inside. This design choice creates moments where people can move between cultural experiences and nature without leaving the grounds.
