Pieri Moriyama, Shopping center in Moriyama, Japan
Pieri Moriyama is a shopping center in Moriyama, Japan, located near the shores of Lake Biwa. The complex rises across several floors with over 100 shops, restaurants, and entertainment facilities for visitors of all ages.
The center opened in September 2008 following plans by the Rui Group design firm. Development arose as part of regional efforts to open the lakefront for commerce and leisure activities.
The name blends the French term 'Pier' with the local city name, reflecting the building's lakefront location near Biwa's shore. Inside, families gather at the food court where regional dishes sit alongside international fast food chains.
Free shuttle buses run from Katata and Moriyama train stations to the center, which opens daily. Most shops sit on lower floors, while upper areas house dining and leisure facilities.
Adjacent to the main building sits the Biwako SKY Adventure park with a zipline stretching 330 feet (100 meters) above the lakeshore. The facility includes several rope courses at different difficulty levels for adults and children.
