Nakanoshima Daibiru Building, Commercial high-rise in Nakanoshima district, Osaka, Japan.
The Nakanoshima Daibiru Building is a commercial high-rise with 35 floors above ground and two basement levels, featuring a glass facade combined with brick elements. The structure houses office spaces, restaurants, and retail facilities across multiple floors and connects directly to Watanabebashi Station through underground passages.
The site was home to the 1925 Osaka Shosen Kaisha headquarters, an eight-story reinforced concrete building designed by architect Setsu Watanabe. The new structure maintains continuity with this earlier commercial landmark that once occupied the location.
The structure honors its predecessor by incorporating approximately 150000 original bricks into its new facade, along with restored stone sculptures and historical columns that bridge the modern design with the site's heritage.
The building is easily accessible via Watanabebashi Station with direct underground access from the platform level. The interior features restaurants and shops, so visitors can find dining and shopping options without leaving the structure.
The entrance hall displays a restored eagle and girl statue that once adorned the original building's arch. Recreated plaster reliefs from the Taisho era decorate the ceiling, bringing historical details to life for visitors.
