Kiragawacho

Kiragawacho is a historic district in Muroto with traditional wooden buildings lined along narrow streets. These lanes connect residential areas with local workshops and small temples throughout the quarter.

The district is most easily reached by bus from Muroto Station. Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the narrow streets and terrain require quite a bit of walking.

Craftspeople here have made paper products using traditional methods passed through their families for generations. This papermaking remains an active practice that visitors sometimes catch in progress.
