Arita Ceramic Museum

The Arita Ceramic Museum exhibits numerous pieces from the Kyushu region, showcasing local porcelain traditions through permanent and temporary exhibitions across multiple halls.

The museum, established in 1954, preserves centuries of ceramic craftsmanship that originated in the early 17th century when porcelain production began in Arita.

The collections include works from notable collectors like Mr. and Mrs. Shibata, presenting the evolution of ceramic techniques and styles through different periods.

Located at 3100-1 Toshaku Otsu, the museum opens from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with last entry at 4:30 PM, and accepts credit card payments.

Twenty-five large ceramic bells, gifts from Meissen, Germany, line the outer wall and ring clear notes every hour throughout the day.
