眼鏡岩, Natural rock formation in Sasebo, Japan.

The Megane-iwa Rock stands 10 meters tall and stretches 20 meters in length, featuring two natural holes that form a distinctive glasses shape.

In 804, Buddhist monk Kukai carved Sanskrit characters and an image of Thousand-Armed Kannon on the rock surface to spread Buddhism in the region.

Local folklore tells of a giant who created the holes in the rock by stretching his legs after waking up from a nap on Mount Ishimori.

Visitors can reach Megane-iwa Rock by taking a 15-minute drive from JR Sasebo Station or using the Matsuura Railway to Hidariishi Station.

The rock structure contains two circular openings formed by natural erosion processes when the area was underwater millions of years ago.
