Tokyo Metropolitan Minamitama Secondary Education School, Highschool in Japan
Tokyo Metropolitan Minamitama Secondary Education School is a coeducational school in Hachioji that covers both middle and high school levels in a single institution. Teaching combines classroom work with hands-on science laboratories and inquiry-based projects carried out on site.
The school was founded in 1908 as a girls school and became coeducational in 1950. In 2010, it was reorganized into its current form as a combined middle and high school.
The school's name refers to its location in the southern part of the Tama area, west of Tokyo. Students take part in international exchange programs, and the results of their work are often displayed in the school's public-facing spaces.
The school is in Hachioji, which is well connected to central Tokyo by rail via the Chuo Line. As an active school, access for visitors is generally not possible outside official events or open days.
The school is part of the WWL Consortium, a national network that connects schools with universities, companies, and international partners. Through this membership, students can attend global conferences and work on research projects together with partners from other countries.
