Tamate-bridge, Suspension bridge in Fujiidera and Kashiwara, Japan.
The Tamate Bridge is a suspension bridge between Fujiidera and Kashiwara with four pairs of white towers and red railings. The structure spans multiple sections and connects different neighborhoods across the divide.
The bridge was built in 1928 by the Osaka Railway Company to provide access to Tamate-yama Amusement Park. The park later closed, but the bridge itself has endured and retains its original construction.
The bridge represents an early feat of engineering that connected two separate towns and remains a registered historical structure today. It shows the technical skill of an era when such constructions were particularly daring for their time.
The bridge is accessed on foot from Dōmyōji Station, which is a short walk away and served by the Kintetsu Line. It mainly functions as a pedestrian crossing between the two communities.
The bridge holds the record for the most spans among all suspension bridges in Japan. This unusual multiple-span design has been maintained since it was built about 100 years ago.
