Gunma Prefectural Museum of Literature in Commemoration of Bunmei Tsuchiya

The Gunma Prefectural Museum of Literature is a biographical center dedicated to the life and works of author Bunmei Tsuchiya. The displays feature manuscripts, personal belongings, and documentation of his extensive literary career.

The museum opened in July 1996 as a center for preserving and presenting the literary heritage of Gunma Prefecture. It was established to recognize and document the significant contributions of a major local author to Japanese literature.

The museum displays materials related to classical Japanese poetry collections, particularly the Manyoshu, which the author studied deeply throughout his career. His research work shows how ancient texts remained important to modern literary scholars.

The museum is located within Kamitsukenu Haniwano-sato Park and offers convenient parking for visitors. Hours run from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and it remains closed on Tuesdays.
