Hanakuma Castle, Japanese castle in Hanakuma-chō, Japan
The castle extended across 700 meters from east to west and 230 meters from north to south, between Mount Rokko and the sea in Kobe.
Built in 1567 under orders from Oda Nobunaga, the castle served as Araki Murashige's stronghold until its fall to Ikeda Tsuneoki forces in 1580.
The remains of the castle walls and roof tiles are preserved at Fukutoku Temple, along with stone monuments dedicated to past residents.
The former main bailey area now contains both an underground parking facility and a public park with stone markers indicating historical points.
The castle structure incorporated the natural terrain between the mountains and sea, making it impossible for travelers to pass through without detection.
