Ashitaka-jinja, Shinto shrine in Japan

Ashitaka-jinja is a small Shinto shrine located in Sasaoki, a neighborhood within Kurashiki. The structure features simple wooden buildings with a traditional roof design, surrounded by trees and quiet pathways for visitors to walk.

The shrine was built during the Heian period, making it several centuries old. It has served the local community throughout this time and is officially recognized in the registry of shrines from the former Bitchū Province.

The shrine's name refers to the spirits of the land that visitors come to honor through prayer and offerings. Local residents regularly gather here during New Year celebrations and special occasions to make wishes and give thanks for good fortune.

The shrine is located in a quiet area and is easy to find near other local spots. Visitors can walk slowly through the pathways and take time to reflect in the peaceful setting without distractions.

The shrine features simple yet beautiful designs in its small buildings, with wooden surfaces that show signs of age and weathering from centuries past. This authentic patina adds a genuine sense of history that gives visitors a real connection to the passage of time.
