Takakanonuma Greenland

Takakanonuma Greenland is an abandoned amusement park in the mountains of Fukushima Prefecture with rusted rides and empty structures. The site remains largely intact, though nature gradually reclaims the buildings and mechanical equipment.

The park opened in 1973, closed in 1975 after operating difficulties, and reopened in 1986 for a second attempt. Financial troubles led to its permanent closure in 1999.

Local residents share stories about multiple accidents that occurred during the park's operation, contributing to its early closure and subsequent renovation period.

The site sits in elevated terrain and is often covered in thick fog, which limits visibility significantly. Bring warm and waterproof clothing, and check weather conditions before heading up the mountain.

The park's structures stand in thick fog throughout the year, making photography challenging and adding to the uncertainty about its current condition.
