高見, Residential district in Yahatahigashi, Kitakyushu, Japan
Takami is a residential district in the eastern part of Yahatahigashi Ward in Kitakyushu, spanning five subdivisions known as Takami 1-chome through Takami 5-chome. Hills rise to the north while the Itabitsugawa River forms the southern boundary.
Development of the area as a residential zone began in 1906 when the government initiated land preparation for housing construction. This early planning established the foundation for the current settlement structure.
The Takami Summer Festival brings residents and local schools together, maintaining community ties through seasonal celebrations and performances.
The district is divided into five sections that can be easily explored on foot. Visitors should plan to start from the elevated areas in the north and walk gradually toward the river in the south to get a sense of the topography.
The area received the Fukuoka Prefecture Beautiful Town Planning Award in 2003 for its Takami Sanjou development project. This recognition honors the intentional creation of a livable neighborhood with thoughtful design and layout.
