AlpsPark

AlpsPark is a nature and animal park located on the northwestern hills of Matsumoto at approximately 800 meters elevation. The facility features a nature museum, observation platform, and enclosures housing various animal species.

The park was established in 1974 as a recreation space that integrated natural landscapes with educational facilities. This founding made it an important destination for the Matsumoto community.

The park blends traditional Japanese garden design with contemporary spaces where visitors can stroll beneath cherry blossoms in spring. This combination of old and new shapes the overall character of the place.

The park is easily accessible by bus via the Alps Koen Line and sits on a hillside, which means some walking on slopes but offers good views throughout. Visiting in the morning allows you to explore during the cooler hours.

A 630-meter toboggan run called Dream Coaster descends the natural slopes while offering views of the Northern Japan Alps during the ride. This unusual attraction combines fun with a nature experience.
