Snow Park Unpenji, Ski resort in Kanonji, Japan
Snow Park Unpenji was a ski resort in Kanonji with slopes reaching 260 meters in length and a maximum gradient of 19 degrees across elevations between 860 and 910 meters. The facility was accessible via a high-speed ropeway that transported visitors to the summit in seven minutes.
The facility opened in 2001 and closed permanently in March 2020 due to declining visitor numbers and rising operational costs.
The resort reflected Japanese winter traditions with dedicated spaces for younger visitors and modern snowboarding facilities situated near a Buddhist temple.
The resort offered equipment rentals and multilingual ski instruction for visitors of all levels. Clear signage and good accessibility made navigation straightforward for both beginners and experienced skiers.
A distinctive feature was the view of the Seto Inland Sea while skiing, a rare combination of maritime scenery and winter sports. This blend of ocean and mountains made the location memorable for visitors.
