宝泉寺

This Buddhist temple in Tsujido occupies a large area within a residential neighborhood, featuring a circular main hall surrounded by carefully maintained gardens. Multiple structures and garden spaces create a sense of openness and balance throughout the grounds.

Founded in 810 during the Heian period, this temple reflects centuries of Japanese Buddhist tradition. Following severe wartime damage, it was comprehensively restored and has stood restored since the 1940s.

The temple serves as a gathering place where local residents practice Buddhism and observe seasonal rituals together. The grounds create a space for both personal reflection and community religious life.

The grounds are straightforward to navigate and the entrance is easy to locate for first-time visitors. Informational panels throughout the site help explain different areas and features as you walk around.

The temple preserves a historic bell cast in 1711 that has survived numerous catastrophes over the centuries. This ancient bell still rings during special ceremonies, serving as a living connection to the temple's long past.
