Tsujidō Seaside Park, Seaside recreational park in Tsujidō Nishikaigan, Japan
Tsujidō Seaside Park is a coastal recreational area in Kanagawa Prefecture, facing the sea along the southern shore of the Shonan coast. It covers a broad strip of land with open grass fields, a swimming pool complex, a children's Traffic Museum, and areas set aside for outdoor sports.
The park opened on April 1, 1971, when coastal land in Kanagawa was converted into a public recreational facility run by the prefecture. Over the following decades it became a regular gathering place for families from across the region.
The Traffic Museum inside the park is aimed mainly at children, who ride bicycles or small pedal cars on a miniature road network with real traffic signs and lights. The activity feels like a game but teaches road habits that children carry with them beyond the park.
The park is open every day and has two parking areas, making it easy to reach by car. On hot summer days the pool area gets very busy, so arriving early in the morning gives you more room to move around.
One building in the park has no windows and is used to display seasonal flowers and plants throughout the year under controlled lighting. This kind of indoor botanical space is rarely found inside a public seaside park.
