Samuel Cocking Garden, Botanical garden on Enoshima Island, Japan
The garden spans 10,000 square meters featuring pathways through collections of tropical plants, seasonal flowers, and palm trees on Enoshima Island.
British merchant Samuel Cocking founded this botanical garden in 1880, with its original greenhouse destroyed during the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake.
The garden combines Japanese and European horticultural techniques, reflecting the cultural exchange during Japan's Meiji period modernization.
Garden entrance costs 500 yen for adults and 250 yen for children after 5 PM, while access remains free during daytime hours.
The Enoshima Sea Candle, a 59.8-meter lighthouse tower within the garden, offers views of Mount Fuji and Tokyo Skytree on clear days.
