海物園跡, Public park in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan
Kaibut-suen is a public park in Hiroshima Prefecture where visitors walk along paths through planted areas and open grounds while stopping at viewing stations to observe plants and marine life. The layout combines open spaces with vegetation, creating multiple points from which to look out over the grounds and nearby water.
The site began as a marine research facility in the early 1900s and contributed to Japanese oceanographic work during that period. It was later transformed into a public park for visitors to enjoy today.
Local environmental education programs at the park connect visitors with traditional Japanese approaches to marine resource conservation.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset with free entry and provides parking near the main entrance for convenient arrival. Wear appropriate footwear for walking on various ground surfaces along the paths.
Several platforms throughout the park offer views where you can watch tidal movements and observe how the Seto Inland Sea ecosystems work up close. These spots reveal natural patterns that are hard to see from other locations.
