Setana Port, Regional port in Kudō district, Japan
Setana Port is a regional maritime facility on the Sea of Japan coast in Hokkaido prefecture, equipped with a single berth for handling cargo vessels. The facility accepts ships up to 3,000 tons displacement and features mobile cranes for cargo operations.
The port originated as a small fishing facility and gradually grew into a regional maritime center. This development helped support the economic growth of the surrounding Hiyama region in Hokkaido.
The port remains tied to local fishing communities who conduct their daily work here and pass on traditional maritime methods to younger generations.
The site is accessible only to vessels that have completed entry procedures at an open port beforehand. Visitors should understand this is an active working facility where access may be limited.
The facility holds a closed port status that requires incoming vessels to handle formalities at other authorized ports first. This restriction makes it a controlled space primarily used for local and approved commercial operations.
