Makuhari-Toyosuna Station, Elevated railway station in Mihama-ku Chiba, Japan
Makuhari-Toyosuna is an elevated railway station in Mihama-ku, Chiba, with two island platforms that serve four tracks above street level. The structure rises over the railway corridor and provides covered waiting areas on each platform.
Operations began on March 18, 2023, after a proposal from 1991 for a stop between Kaihimmakuhari and Shin-Narashino was finally realized. The project took more than three decades to complete.
The station serves as a transportation hub near Makuhari Messe convention center, ZOZO Marine Stadium, and the AEON Mall Makuhari New City complex.
Rapid trains reach Tokyo Station in roughly 30 minutes, and local buses link the station to airports and medical centers. Stairs and elevators connect street level to the platforms above.
Construction required investment from both JR East and the AEON retail chain, creating a direct connection to the nearby shopping complex. The location between two existing stations filled a gap in the regional rail network.
