Museum Tower Kyōbashi, Contemporary skyscraper and museum complex in Kyōbashi, Tokyo, Japan
Museum Tower Kyōbashi is a skyscraper in the Kyōbashi district of Tokyo, rising around 150 meters (490 feet) with 25 floors above ground and two basement levels. The lower floors house the Artizon Museum, while the upper floors are dedicated to office use.
The tower was completed in 2019 and replaced the former Bridgestone Museum of Art, which had been founded by Shojiro Ishibashi in 1952. The art collection built up over decades in the same area found a permanent home in the new building when the museum reopened in 2020.
The Artizon Museum inside the tower draws its name from a combination of the words "art" and "horizon", suggesting a wide view of creative works. The collection spans western and Japanese painting from the 19th and 20th centuries, displayed in gallery rooms spread across several floors.
The museum and the office areas have separate entrances, so it is worth checking which entry point leads to the galleries before you arrive. Weekday mornings tend to be quieter and give more comfortable access to the exhibition floors.
A rooftop garden is tucked between the 21st and 23rd floors, visible only from certain angles and rarely noticed by visitors arriving at street level. The aluminum louvers covering the exterior adjust automatically to control how much light enters, so the interior feels different depending on the time of day.
