Changwon Stadium, Multi-purpose stadium in Changwon, South Korea.
Changwon Stadium is a football stadium located inside the Changwon Sports Park, a large sports complex in the western part of the city. It holds around 27,000 spectators and has covered stands on all sides of the pitch.
The stadium opened in 1993 and was one of the first large sports venues in the Gyeongnam region. It was later renovated ahead of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which South Korea co-hosted with Japan.
The stadium is home to Changwon City FC, the local football club competing in the K League 2. On match days, fans gather in the stands and create the kind of noisy, collective energy that is common at South Korean football clubs.
The stadium sits within the Changwon Sports Park, where parking is widely available and food stalls are easy to find on event days. The grounds are well signposted and straightforward to move around on foot.
Although the stadium was renovated for the 2002 World Cup period, it was not one of the official match venues for that tournament, which sets it apart from the more widely known South Korean stadiums of that era. The renovation was aimed at raising its overall standard rather than hosting World Cup games directly.
