Shiva Temple, Hindu temple in Pokhara, Nepal
The Shiva Temple is a Hindu temple in Pokhara, Nepal, perched at around 1500 meters with views toward Fewa Lake and the Annapurna range. The complex includes several buildings around a main shrine and provides space for worship and quiet reflection.
Construction began in the early 2020s as an initiative by religious leaders and local authorities. Completion followed quickly to meet growing pilgrim traffic from the region.
In the inner courtyard, visitors watch devotees circling smaller shrines while individual pilgrims carry water vessels to the different symbols. The temple name refers to the Hindu deity of destruction and renewal, whose worship has been traditional throughout the Himalayas for centuries.
A recently paved road leads up to the entrance, making access possible even for less experienced walkers. Several halls remain open for visitors who want to sit down and rest for a while.
A statue over 30 meters tall rises above the main entrance and can be seen from far away. Its size makes it one of the tallest religious structures in the Pokhara valley.
