Bhadrakali Temple

Bhadrakali Temple is a Hindu shrine built on a small hill in eastern Pokhara that displays traditional pagoda-style architecture with intricate carvings and religious artwork. The structure features the multi-tiered roof design typical of Nepali temples, with decorated wooden elements and stone work throughout the complex.

The temple was founded in 1817 when a priest discovered a statue of the goddess while digging into the hill, an event local tradition attributes to divine guidance. This discovery led to the establishment of one of the area's most significant religious sites.

The temple serves as a spiritual center for Hindu worshippers in Pokhara, where people come to honor Goddess Bhadrakali, an incarnation of Durga. Daily rituals and seasonal celebrations are conducted here throughout the year by devoted community members.

The temple can be accessed by two different stairways, one from the east side and another from the south, offering multiple entry routes. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and allow enough time for the climb, particularly if taking the longer approach.

The location was chosen based on a statue that a priest serendipitously found buried in the soil, an event interpreted as a sign from the goddess herself. This unusual founding story gives the temple special spiritual significance in the eyes of local devotees.
