St. George's Cathedral, Baroque cathedral in Union Square, Timișoara, Romania
The Saint George's Cathedral features two symmetrical towers, nine ornate altars, and detailed stucco decorations across its brick and stone structure.
Construction of the cathedral began in 1736 under Emperor Charles VI's decree and continued until 1774, with a pause during the Austro-Turkish War.
The cathedral holds regular services in three languages - Hungarian, German, and Romanian - reflecting the multicultural heritage of the Timișoara region.
Visitors can access the cathedral daily outside of mass hours, with primary services occurring on Sundays at 10:00 and 18:00.
During the Austro-Turkish War of 1788-1790, the religious building transformed into a salt storage facility to support military operations.
