Fantast Castle, Heritage castle and hotel in Bečej, Serbia
Fantast Castle is a building with neo-gothic features, centered around a main tower and four corner towers, set within landscaped grounds. The property includes neoclassical reception halls that now function as part of a hotel operation.
Built between 1919 and 1925 by wealthy landowner Bogdan Dunđerski, the building reflected his prosperity and taste. Bombing during the Second World War caused significant damage, after which it was taken into state control.
The chapel inside holds paintings by Serbian artist Uroš Predić, including a portrait of the Virgin Mary with features resembling Mara Dinjacki. These works show how the original owner wanted his family and faith represented in his private chapel.
The property is situated roughly 12 kilometers from central Bečej and operates as a hotel where visitors can join guided tours of the grounds. Advance arrangements help ensure access to both interior spaces and outdoor areas.
The name comes from a prize-winning racehorse that competed at Belgrade racecourse in 1932. This connection to horse racing reflects the original owner's sporting interests.
