Jerinin Grad, Grabovac, Medieval fortification near Trstenik, Serbia

Jerinin Grad is a stone fortification standing on a hilltop about 3 kilometers west of Trstenik, overlooking the West Morava valley. The ruins show stone structures from different periods, with walls and foundations still visible across the site.

The fortification dates to the 6th century under Emperor Justinian I and was later rebuilt and reinforced under Princess Milica of Serbia. These two periods shaped the structure that visitors see today.

The fortress name references Eirene Kantakouzene, who oversaw construction efforts during the medieval period. The structure reflects how Byzantine influences shaped building practices in the region.

A marked path leads from Trstenik uphill to the site, with gradual elevation gain to reach the hilltop. The grounds are open and exposed, so you can see the ruins clearly from most angles.

Several fortresses across Serbia share the name Jerinin Grad, each marking strategic points in the medieval state. This particular site near Trstenik is one of them, and visitors often overlook its role as part of a larger military network.
