Egyptian Bridge, bridge in St. Petersburg, Russia

Egyptian Bridge was a steel arch structure crossing the Fontanka River in Saint Petersburg, featuring distinctive Egyptian Revival architectural elements. Spanning 46 meters long and 27 meters wide, it connected key areas of the Admiralteysky District.

Built in the 19th century, this bridge reflected Saint Petersburg's fashion for Egyptian design elements during that era. It deteriorated over time and was eventually demolished, removing a notable piece of the city's architectural heritage.

The bridge no longer stands at its original location over the Fontanka River. Visitors can explore its history through the city's museums and historical archives, which preserve information about its former architectural character.

The bridge was known for its unusually ornate Egyptian decoration, adorned with sphinxes and hieroglyphic motifs. This blend of European engineering with Egyptian aesthetics made it one of the city's most distinctive structures.
