Khostinsky City District

Khostinsky City District extends along the Black Sea coast, featuring mountainous terrain from the Western Caucasus slopes down to the shoreline.

The area originated as a Genoese colony named Costa, later controlled by the Ottoman Empire before becoming part of the Russian Empire following the 1828-1829 war.

The district contains numerous microdistricts including Svetlana, Bytha, Iskra, Matsesta, Maly Akhun, Khosta, and Kudepsta, each contributing to the local identity.

The district connects to central Sochi through a 1,316-meter tunnel linking Matsesta to Kurortny Avenue, facilitating transportation along the coast.

The Sochi Arboretum, established in 1889, maintains Russia's largest collection of subtropical plants, including 76 pine species and 24 palm varieties.
