Khostinsky City District

Khostinsky City District is a coastal area stretching from the Western Caucasus slopes down to the Black Sea shore, blending mountainous terrain with waterfront settings. The area contains several residential neighborhoods connected to central Sochi through a major underground tunnel.

The area began as a Genoese settlement and later fell under Ottoman control before becoming Russian territory following a conflict in the late 1820s. This shifting history shaped the region's character and development over time.

The district comprises several neighborhoods like Matsesta, Khosta, and Kudepsta, each with its own local character and atmosphere. These residential areas shape daily life and offer visitors different experiences depending on where they explore.

A large underground tunnel connects this area to central Sochi, making it easy to travel between neighborhoods and along the coast. Visitors can reach different parts of the district without difficulty, with good road access throughout.

The district houses a large botanical garden founded in 1889 that contains thousands of subtropical plants collected from around the world. This green space offers visitors a chance to see the botanical richness that makes this region special.
