Tokinsko-Stanovoy National Park, Protected wilderness area in Amur Oblast, Russia
Tokinsko-Stanovoy National Park is a protected wilderness area covering 243,000 hectares with glacial valleys, mountain lakes, volcanic plateaus, and expansive taiga forests. The park spans the border region where Amur Oblast, Sakha Republic, and Khabarovsk Krai meet.
The park was officially established as a national park in December 2019. This designation aimed to protect the natural features and ecosystems of this remote border region.
The Evenki people have practiced reindeer herding across this land for many generations. Visitors can observe signs of this traditional way of life throughout the park.
Access to the park is best arranged through the city of Zeya. Visitors can participate in activities like ecological monitoring and wildlife observation, which require basic outdoor skills and preparation.
The park contains two distinct ecoregions: Trans-Baikal Bald Mountain tundra at higher elevations and East Siberian taiga at lower elevations. This transition between two very different ecosystems creates an unusual natural laboratory.
