Main Narzan Baths

The Main Narzan Baths is a medical spa building in Kislovodsk featuring a black stucco exterior, pointed towers, and distinctive spiral staircases inside. The two-story structure houses two swimming pools and twenty-four individual bathing cabins where mineral water flows for therapeutic treatments.

Architect A. Klepinin designed this structure in 1904, introducing a modern approach to mineral water bathing in Kislovodsk. The building emerged during the era when the city was becoming recognized as a spa destination for therapeutic treatments.

The building blends Indo-Saracenic architectural elements that reflect Eastern design influences in early 20th-century Russian construction. You can see this mixture of styles in the decorative details and the overall shape of the structure.

The structure sits at a lower elevation than the surrounding springs, allowing mineral water to flow naturally into the reservoirs by gravity. This location means fresh water reaches all bathing areas without needing mechanical pumps.

The mineral water comes from an underground source that takes many years to develop, collecting various minerals along the way. Visitors can use this pure natural spring water directly without any modern processing or additives needed.
