Museums' Park, Urban park in Östermalm district, Sweden
Museums' Park is an urban park in Östermalm district featuring open grasslands and multiple paths that connect various cultural institutions throughout the area. The space spreads across a large section in northern Stockholm with maintained trails and clearing areas between museum buildings.
The site dates back to the 15th century when it served as Ladugårdsgärdet, pastureland for the royal household's livestock. The area eventually transformed from agricultural use into a public recreational space for Stockholm's residents.
The park serves as a gathering space connecting several museums and creates natural pathways where visitors walk between different collections. You will notice people using the green areas to rest between cultural visits and as a meeting point.
The park is accessible from sunrise to sunset throughout the year with walking paths and open areas for casual strolls. The grounds connect easily to public transportation, making it simple to reach from other parts of the city.
From 1672 until the 1940s the grounds served as a military training area where Swedish forces regularly held large-scale war games. Thousands of soldiers and sailors participated in these exercises across the open fields.
