Biopolis, geographical object
Biopolis is a research center in one-north that houses modern buildings with laboratories, offices, and meeting spaces for scientists and companies working in medicine and life sciences. The complex features well-equipped facilities, parking, a food court, and various rental units designed for biotech research and development work.
Biopolis opened in 2003 as part of Singapore's strategy to strengthen its science and biotechnology sectors. Additional buildings were added between 2006 and 2022 to support brain research and immunology studies, and to provide space for emerging biotech startups.
Biopolis brings together researchers from different backgrounds and countries to tackle scientific challenges together. You will notice interdisciplinary collaboration happening naturally, with casual discussions between scientists and regular seminars where findings are shared openly.
The site is easy to reach by public transport, particularly the nearby Buona Vista MRT station, and buses serve the area regularly. Parking is available on-site, but many visitors prefer public transit to avoid congestion.
The campus integrates art programs that encourage artists to create works inspired by science and research. Visitors can find sculptures and installations throughout the open spaces that blend scientific inquiry with creative expression.
