Pasir Panjang Pillbox, World War II military pillbox in Pasir Panjang, Singapore
Pasir Panjang Pillbox is a reinforced concrete fortification from World War II located in this coastal district of Singapore. The structure features two gun embrasures and a rounded observation cupola on its roof for surveillance purposes.
The Malay Regiment used this fortification during intense fighting against the advancing Japanese 18th Division in February 1942. The position was part of the defense system at Pasir Panjang Ridge.
A National Heritage Board plaque at the site tells the story of the military past and the strategic role this coastal defense position played. The location serves as a reminder of how this area was once a key defensive point.
The structure is located near the intersection of Pasir Panjang Road and Science Park Road and remains closed for safety reasons. The exterior can be viewed and photographed by visitors.
This is one of the few remaining intact machine gun bunkers from Singapore's pre-war British coastal defense network. Its preservation allows visitors to see the actual conditions under which defenders operated.
