Parkroyal on Pickering, hotel located in the Central Area of Singapore
Parkroyal on Pickering is an 89-meter-tall hotel and office building in Outram, Singapore, featuring over 15,000 square meters of terraced gardens, waterfalls, and green walls across multiple levels. The 367 guest rooms enjoy views of integrated garden spaces, and the blue and green glass facade reflects the surrounding water of Singapore River.
Construction started in late 2009 with the hotel opening in early 2013. The project was designed by Singapore-based architectural firm WOHA, which aimed to integrate nature into urban space. The property was rebranded as Parkroyal Collection Pickering in 2020 as part of a company identity update.
The name references Pickering Street where it stands, reflecting its connection to the local area. The terraced gardens throughout the building serve as spaces where guests experience nature and gather, transforming how people interact with urban space.
The hotel sits on Upper Pickering Street near the central business district and Chinatown, making it accessible from different parts of the city. The location offers convenient access to shops and offices while the extensive gardens and water features provide comfortable spaces to walk through and rest.
The building features a sophisticated rainwater collection system and solar panels that enable self-sustaining gardens throughout the structure. This innovative approach made it one of the first hotels in Singapore to pursue nearly zero-energy garden operations.
