The Fullerton Waterboat House, Art Deco building in Downtown Core, Singapore.
The Fullerton Waterboat House is a curved facade structure with three stories located near Marina Bay in downtown Singapore. It features a distinctive semi-circular tower visible from Fullerton Road and now houses multiple restaurants with water views.
Built in 1919, it operated as a water supply station for maritime vessels until 1990, serving Singapore's busy harbor for over 70 years. This industrial function defined the building's purpose throughout most of the 20th century.
The name reflects its past role supplying water to ships, a memory still woven into how people experience the building today. Visitors now gather in the restaurants to enjoy food that connects Singapore's multicultural traditions.
The building is conveniently located near public transportation in the Downtown Core, making it easy to reach on foot. The restaurants offer both indoor seating and outdoor areas overlooking Marina Bay and the Esplanade Bridge.
The 2003 renovation carefully preserved the original grey Shanghai Plaster finish on the facade while adding a contemporary glass structure alongside it. This blend of heritage and modern design was recognized with an architectural preservation award.
