Library@Esplanade

Library@Esplanade was a specialized library on the third floor of Esplanade Mall dedicated to the performing arts. It was organized into four distinct sections, each housing collections related to music, dance, theater, and film.

This library opened in 2002 as Singapore's first public collection dedicated solely to the performing arts. After operating for over 20 years, it closed and relocated its holdings to another location in the city.

This library served as a gathering place where people could explore and share their passion for music, dance, theater, and film together. Regular performances and screenings turned it into a meeting point for artists and enthusiasts of the performing arts.

The library offered visitors practice rooms, screening areas, and a quiet music studio equipped with instruments for hands-on exploration. Guests could develop artistic skills in a relaxed setting without pressure or formal requirements.

The collection held around 50,000 volumes on the performing arts, an impressive depth of knowledge for a specialized library. These materials remain accessible to the public in a different building across the city today.
