Paruskavan Palace, Royal palace in Dusit, Thailand
Paruskavan Palace is a palace complex in Dusit that blends Western and traditional Thai architecture. The compound includes multiple buildings spread across a large area and now serves as an administrative headquarters.
The palace was built in 1903 for a royal prince and his wife after they returned from Europe. The project reflected the desire of the Thai elite to combine modern European building methods with local traditions.
The palace shows how the Thai monarchy combined its architectural traditions with European design in the early 1900s. Visitors can see this blend of Eastern and Western styles throughout the buildings and in the details of the structures.
The building can be visited Tuesday through Friday during specified hours, with limited public access. It helps to check in advance whether tours are available on your preferred day.
The original architectural plan was more ambitious, but the designers involved had to leave the project partway through. Only one of the original professionals stayed until completion to finish the work.
