Torii Fude Temple

Torii Fude Temple is a traditional sanctuary in Taichung featuring carved decorations and architectural elements that blend Japanese and Taiwanese styles. The grounds include a torii gate at the entrance, several altars inside, and detailed woodwork on the roofs and pillars.

The sanctuary blends traditional features such as the torii gate rooted in Japanese architecture with Taiwanese worship practices that developed over time. This fusion reflects the region's cultural history, shaped by Japanese influence and local traditions.

The temple honors the Earth God Fude Zhengshen and functions as a gathering space where residents come to seek blessings for prosperity and academic achievement. Daily visitors make offerings and participate in ceremonies that shape the rhythm of the neighborhood.

The sanctuary is located along Dianzai Street and is easily accessible on foot. Visitors should wear respectful clothing and follow the custom of removing shoes when entering, as is traditional practice.

Inside are three deity representations honored together: the Earth God with his wife and a young boy, symbolizing blessings for wealth and fertility as a unified blessing. This arrangement sets this temple apart from other Earth God temples in the region.
