Chornukhyne, Urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine
Chornukhyne is an urban-type settlement located in eastern Ukraine at an elevation of 326 meters above sea level, positioned at coordinates 48.326389 latitude and 38.515556 longitude.
The settlement was established around 1600 during the early 17th century, experiencing various administrative changes including transfers from Perevalsk Raion in 2014 to Popasna Raion until 2020.
The community maintains traditional Ukrainian customs and local festivals that reflect the heritage of eastern Ukraine, preserving cultural identity through communal events and regional practices.
Currently administered under Alchevsk urban hromada, the settlement provides basic amenities including schools, medical facilities, and transportation connections to surrounding agricultural areas and neighboring communities.
In January 2024, Ukraine officially abolished the Soviet-era classification of urban-type settlements, transitioning Chornukhyne to rural status as part of administrative streamlining efforts across the country.
