Aire Point to Carrick Du SSSI

Aire Point to Carrick Du SSSI is a protected coastal area in Cornwall covering about 6 square kilometers (2.3 square miles) along the Penwith peninsula. The site features dramatic vertical sea cliffs formed from granite bedrock that rises directly from the water.

The site was first designated in 1967 to protect its important geological features and wildlife. Current boundaries were set in 1995 to strengthen protection of these natural values.

The South West Coast Path passes through this area, offering walkers a route that has connected coastal communities for generations. The path reflects how people have moved through and valued this landscape over time.
