Alameda Wildlife Conservation Park, Animal sanctuary in Alameda Gardens, Gibraltar.

Alameda Wildlife Conservation Park is an animal sanctuary located in Alameda Gardens in Gibraltar that houses a variety of creatures in natural-style enclosures. Visitors can see Barbary macaques, cotton-topped tamarins, green iguanas, spur-thighed tortoises, and numerous bird species living throughout the grounds.

The facility started in 1994 when Gibraltar Customs seized animals from illegal traders moving goods through the territory. These confiscated creatures became the foundation for the conservation work that continues today at this location.

The park runs education sessions for local schools where students learn about animal welfare and conservation through watching the animals up close. This direct engagement with young people helps build understanding about why wildlife protection matters in Gibraltar.

The park welcomes visitors daily throughout the year except on Good Friday, National Day on September 10, and Christmas Day. Staff members can answer questions about the animals and conservation programs, so it is helpful to speak with them during your visit.

The park runs breeding programs for endangered animals with the goal of eventually releasing them into the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. This work reveals how the facility goes beyond daily care to actively help restore wildlife populations in the local area.
