Windsor Suspension Bridge, Suspension footbridge in Upper Rock Nature Reserve, Gibraltar
The Windsor Suspension Bridge is a footbridge that also permits bicycles, stretching 71 meters across the Upper Rock Nature Reserve at a height of 50 meters. The steel cable structure connects different walking routes in the upper part of the nature reserve.
Construction was completed in 2016, marking a turning point in developing the Upper Rock site as a modern visitor destination. The bridge came about from growing demand for improved walking routes in this part of Gibraltar.
The bridge links visitors to the natural landscape of Upper Rock, showing how modern infrastructure fits into protected areas. It is part of the walking network that guides hikers through the rocky terrain.
The bridge is open daily for pedestrians and cyclists and can be visited as part of a loop walk through Upper Rock. There are pathways on both sides, and sturdy shoes are recommended for the rocky walking routes.
From the bridge, visitors get a special view of the point where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean. This geographic location makes it a rare spot where both seas are visible from one vantage point.
