Heron Quays West, High-rise building in Canary Wharf, United Kingdom.
Heron Quays West is a twin-tower high-rise in Canary Wharf consisting of two connected structures reaching 214 meters and 156 meters, linked by a central atrium at ground level. The building houses office and retail spaces that integrate with the surrounding Canary Wharf development.
Planning for the site began in 2007 with an initial three-tower concept that was later reconsidered. The current twin-tower design received approval from Tower Hamlets council in 2008, with construction commencing in 2016.
The Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners architectural design reflects the transformation of London's Docklands from industrial warehouses to modern financial structures.
The building connects directly to Canary Wharf's public transport links including the Jubilee Line and Docklands Light Railway. Expect the surroundings to be busy during morning and afternoon commute times, with better access during midday hours.
The development was built on land acquired through a compulsory purchase process, a notable method for securing property in an already densely developed area. This acquisition approach enabled the project to proceed in one of London's most constrained locations.
