Seat Sandal

Seat Sandal is a 736 meter mountain in the Eastern Fells region of the Lake District with exposed rock faces and steep descents. The route climbs through open terrain marked by old stone walls left from past farming use.

The summit bears traces of centuries of sheep farming, with stone walls that once divided grazing lands. This agricultural practice shaped the landscape well into modern times.

Local mountaineering groups regularly organize guided walks to Seat Sandal as part of their mission to maintain Lake District climbing traditions.

Visitors should come in stable weather and bring sturdy boots and navigation tools, as the routes cross open terrain. Access is best from Dunmail Raise parking area, where several paths lead toward the summit.
