Shillhope Law

Shillhope Law is a peak in the southern Cheviots marked by steep grassy slopes that descend sharply into deep valleys on either side. The summit sits at about 500 meters and offers wide views across the surrounding moorland and hills.

The mountain gained its classification based on its height and the depth of the saddle separating it from neighboring peaks. This distinction reflects the geological and topographical features that define it as a notable summit.

The northern flank of Shillhope Law serves as a training ground for military exercises, creating an intersection between recreational and defense activities.

The ascent follows open hillside without major obstacles, making it accessible for hikers of varying experience levels. The terrain remains passable year-round but can turn slippery during wet conditions.

The mountain offers unobstructed views specifically toward the south and southeast, while surrounding hills of similar height limit visibility in other directions.
